Dinesh Karthik was run-out in style by Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the 20th over of the IPL 2017 match between Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions.
New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni might not be in the best of form with the bat, but as far as wicketkeeping is concerned, there are not many who can come close to his heroics behind the wicket.
During Rising Pune Supergiant’s match against Gujarat Lions, Dhoni was once again at his best when he ran-out Dinesh Karthik to give a big blow to the opponents.
The incident happened in the final over of Lions’ innings when Karthik rushed for a bye to be at strike for the final ball of the innings. But he was well short as Dhoni’s direct throw uprooted the stumps.
Earlier in the match, Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina committed a blunder as he went for a second run despite the ball being thrown at Dhoni’s end. Dhoni collected the ball and removed the bails in a flash.
After putting 161 runs on board, Lions were stunned by a stupendous ton from Ben Stokes, who single-handedly won the match for his team with a brisk 63-ball 103.
Despite having some of the most renowned big-hitters in the squad, Lions have failed to live up to the expectations are currently languishing at sixth position in points table after just three wins from ten matches.
